Awareness Programme For Adolescent Girls On Menstrual Hygiene - June 21, 2019

Menstrual hygiene and management is an issue that is insufficiently acknowledged and has not received adequate attention. Related in context on the occasion of International Yoga Day on 21st June 2019, an awareness session on menstrual hygiene for adolescent girls was initiated by Mrs. Jeevalatha, Vice President, Vadapalani Educational Society, Vadapalani, Chennai. More than 50 girls from the class 6th to 12th of Vadapalani Matriculation Higher Secondary School were made aware of menstrual hygiene. The program started at 1.30 PM Mrs.Sheela Venkatakrishnan, Principal of VMHSS delivered the welcome note.

The chief guest Dr.P.Lakshmi Dhevi, M.D., D.G.O., Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Senior Civil surgeon and Superintendent (Retd), Govt. RSRM Hospital, Chennai presided the program and delivered the keynote on the topic “Menstrual Hygiene”. She talks about menarche awareness, type of absorbent used, disposal hygiene, and hormone-related issues. FAQs by the girls related to the topic were answered by the chief guest. Dr.G.Nithya, Biology faculty ended the session with a vote of thanks and some guidance and demonstration were given to the students related to the disposal of napkins.

Dental Diagnosis & Awareness Camp - July 9, 2019

In association with the Clove Dental Health line, ‘Dental Diagnosis and Awareness Camp ‘was organized in our School Campus on 09/07/2019 under the guidance of the Vice-President Mrs. Jeeva Latha Mam and the Principal Mrs. Sheela Mam.

More than 200 students from STD I to STD XII and staff participated in the camp. A diagnostic check-up was done and following which the required treatment procedure was explained to them. A report card was given to every child with oral hygiene instruction.

The response from the students was positive and the Camp was indeed success

Temple Service Programme - August 28, 2019

Vadapalani Matriculation Higher secondary school organized a cleaning camp along with Sai devotees at Bhuvaneshwari Amman temple, Chennai on 28/08/2019. Totally 31 students along with two teaching staff participated in the Temple cleaning camp.

They were welcomed by the Sai devotees. While one of the devotees pointed out that cleanliness of the mind was equally important to emerge as good citizens. Students began their task with broomsticks, brushes, and rugs. First, they cleaned the idols, pillars, and floors. Later they washed the floor thoroughly. The students enjoyed the prasadam which were given to them.

Thus students restore this temple to its original sanctity and returned to the school completely satisfied and feeling blessed.
